Radio family The Bradshaws in live stage show

Long before Peter Kay burst onto the comedy circuit and made millions from turning everyday conversation into humour, Alf, Audrey and Billy Bradshaw were entertaining housewives, van drivers, factory workers and office staff on a daily basis.

The well loved Bradshaws radio series was broadcast on local radio stations the length and breadth of the region. Like most folk in the North, Peter Kay could not escape the broadcasts which coincided with brew time. In fact, it was the Bradshaw family that first inspired him to try his hand at comedy.

It was in the early 1980s that the Bradshaws first opened the front door of their terraced two-up two-down and invited the population to eavesdrop on their typical Northern family.

Three decades on, The Bradshaws creator Buzz Hawkins has now more than 300 recorded episodes to his credit, two Sony Radio Awards and there’s been a TV adaptation of the airwaves hit.

The Bradshaws, who have been heard on High Peak Radio, are touring in the stage show Goosed which comes to New Mills Art Theatre on October 16, at 7.30pm. Tickets £19. Contact or call 01333 666 3366.
