Retro jazz tunes make night go with a swing

Retro jazz fans should check out the sounds of the After Hours Quintet when they play in Tansley this weekend.

The charismatic band will be re-inventing swing and jazz fromthe 1920s, letting rip on a treasure trove of good-time numbers from the likes of Sydney Bechet, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Nat King Cole, Cab Calloway and Django Reinhardt.

Based in Leeds, the After Hours Quintet comprises Max Miller on guitar and vocals, Oly Clarkson on saxophone, clarinet and vocals, John Arneson on drums and doowap, Tom Maddison on string bass, Elias Bolufer on trumpet, Lawrence Marshall on trombone and Nell Begley on vocals.

Catch them at Tansley Village Hall on Saturday, November 21, at 7.30pm.

Seating will be cabaret style around candlelit tables. There will be a licensed bar – open before the show, during the interval and after the show.
