Buxton Opera House has some sparkling events set for January, easing you into the New Year with comedy, drama and music.

Ultimate Bowie will pay tribute to David Bowie on Saturday January 4, starring the acclaimed Ed Blaney as the legend and an eight-piece band, taking audiences from his early career and the Ziggy Stardust years right up to his 21st century work.

Todd Miller & The Joe Loss Orchestra, one of the longest-running musical entertainment companies of all time, will deliver a spell-binding night of big band music on Sunday January 12, and a classical treat will come in the shape of Magical Mozart by Candlelight on Sunday January 19, a sumptuous, fully-costumed show with stunning Mozart classics.

The Jonny Cash Roadshow comes back to the Opera House on Friday January 24, with special endorsement from the Cash Family. The top tribute will deliver all the hits, Ring of Fire, Walk The Line, as well as the Jonny and June duets.

Drama lovers can look forward to Kidnapped on Friday January 17 and Saturday January 18, an adventure tale for all the family, telling the story of a shipwreck and murder set in the 1750s.

Also in January comes Ladies in Retirement from Monday January 27 to Wednesday January 29, a taut and creepy melodrama based on a famous murder which took place at the end of the last century, starring Katy Manning and Shirley Anne Field.

One of the hottest comedy prospects in the country, flirty, feisty and effortlessly funny Shappi Khorsandi is live at the Opera House on Sunday January 19.

And to finish the month, The King of Pop - The Legend Continues on Friday January 31 will pay tribute to Michael Jackson.
