Gang warfare amid Industrial Revolution in new play Scuttlers

Be transported back to the Industrial Revolution with Rona Munro’s new play, Scuttlers.

It’s 1885 in the world’s first industrial suburb and the young mill workers who are the living cogs in its machines form the first urban gangs, fighting over their territory with belts, fists and knives.

The play is inspired by the Manchester riots of 2011 and the stories of gangs between the 19th century and today.

Scuttlers is at Manchester’s Royal Exchange until March 7. Tickets £15.
