Women have the upper hand in a witty comedy which Hasland Theatre Company has chosen for its latest production.

Entertaining Angels by Richard Everett focuses on vicar’s wife Grace who has spent a lifetime on her best behaviour. After the death of her husband, she can enjoy the freedom of being able to do and say what she wants. But the return of her missionary sister and some revelations force Grace to confront the truth of her marriage.

Director Sue Godsell said: “We are enjoying learning about our characters and how they cope with the various and complex emotions that this play focuses on.”

The play premiered six years ago at Theatre Royal, Bath, starring Penelope Keith. Since then, over 50 amateur groups have tackled it.

Hasland Theatre Company stage Entertaining Angels at the Playhouse, Storforth Lane, from March 20 to 21 and from March 23 to 28 at 7.30pm. Tickets £7.50 (plus booking fee). Contact www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/79177
