For the first time in eight years, the highly acclaimed children’s musical show, Spot’s Birthday Party, is back on stage, and the national tour can be seen when it comes to Buxton Opera House on Sunday, April 21, at 1.30pm and 3pm.

This is a revival of David Wood’s adaptation of Eric Hill’s classic children’s story.

Spot’s Birthday Party is the perfect introduction for young theatregoers to experience the magic of a live show on stage at a local venue and is a theatrical experience that will capture all imaginations.

David Wood is a leading children’s playwright, who has has adapted The Gingerbread Man, The BFG, The Tiger Who Came To Tea and The Meg and Mog Show for the stage.

The show sees Spot celebrate his birthday with his friends, Steve the monkey, Helen the hippo and Tom the crocodile.

Spot’s parents, Sally and Sam, plus special guest entertainer, Marco the rabbit, will be there too and the audience can join in the fun with music, songs, games and stories.

Children are welcome to arrive at the theatre dressed for a party, and Spot would love to receive homemade birthday cards from them.

Spot’s Birthday Party stars Matthew Tanner as Spot, Benjamin Wells as Sam/Marco, Jenanne Redman as Sally, Alex Bloomer as Steve, Adam Ryan as Tom and Elizabeth Oliver-Kirk as Helen.

Director David Wood has taken Eric Hill’s delightful tale and adapted it into a theatrical treat for families.

The show is suitable for those aged two and over.
