That’s more than obvious from watching the supermarket sitcom Trollied which, thanks to popular demand, has reopened for business on Sky1 (Mondays).

This, the fourth series, sees hapless manager Gavin still in charge with many of the regulars, back behind the tills or filling shelves at budget chain Valco, being joined by some surprising new recruits. These include Harry Potter star Miriam Margoyles as no-nonsense Rose (the nan of Colin, the store’s lazy and scheming assistant); Stephen Tompkinson taking time off from crime in DCI Banks to play a jumped-up pharmacist, and young Jack Carroll from Britain’s Got Talent as a know-it-all member of the sales team.

They aren’t the only familiar faces up for some extra work as can be seen from the early line-up in I’m a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Here taking over the Downton Abbey slot on ITV1 from Sunday.

Names already slated for some time in the jungle include TOWIE stalwart Gemma Collins, giggly TV presenter Melanie Sykes, former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher and Olympic diver Tom Daley.

However, while these, and other “celebs”, are heading to the other side of the world in the hope of getting a big payout, others are already been paid to travel.

On Channel 5 this Friday Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi rounds off her Secret Italy series, which has been interesting and informative, sharing with viewers the delights of street food, including boiled calf’s head as pizza must have been off the menu that day.

Similar local offerings will probably await comedian and presenter Sue Perkins, taking time off her The Great British Bake Off duties, as she heads for South East Asia and Vietnam at the start of a 3,000-mile journey up The Mekong River (BBC2, Sunday).

Sue, who began her trip in Vietnam trying her hand as a noodle saleswoman, now travels on to Cambodia in the second of this four-part series seeing how deforestation and wildlife crime are stripping the country of its last wild places.

Another comedian out and about is Micky Flanagan whose four-week Detour de France (Sky1, Monday) got off to a top-gear start as Micky and his mate, bricklayer Noel, pedalled down to Dover to board a cross-Channel ferry en-route to sampling the French fizz and food as well as taking part in a huge cycling challenge.

If you want to see all your TV favourites in one place then make sure you catch the Beeb’s annual Children in Need appeal, which opens on The One Show at 7pm this Friday and continues through the night until 2am.

Highlights include an excerpt from the West End Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bruce Forsyth returning for a Strictly Come Dancing special and a performance by One Direction, while later in the evening there’s the must-see reunion of S Club 7, Ronan Keating and the cast of Once while rounding off the fun and games will be the cast of the Kinks’ musical Sunny Afternoon.
