Top soloist in NPO concert

Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting an exciting evening of music at Nottingham’s Albert Hall on Saturday, March 28.

At the concert, you will hear two well-loved classics and an unusual rarity, all conducted by Mark Heron.

The rarity is a huge work for wind and brass by Khachaturian from his film score The Battle of Stalingrad. For this exciting piece, NPO is joined by the young players of Derbyshire City and County Youth Wind Band.

A regular visitor to Nottingham, Alexandra Dariescu will play Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto, which is one of his finest compositions, often at the top of the polls of the most popular classical music. The final work is the powerful and tragic Sixth Symphony of Tchaikovsky, known as the Pathetique, a beautiful and emotional piece of music.

Tickets are available from Royal Concert Hall box office on 0115 989 5555, via the website at www.trch.co.uk or on the door at £11 and £15, and £5 for students. There will be a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm.
