Village revving up for Top Gear trio send-up

Speculation is in overdrive that Top Gear is coming to a Peak District village.

Certainly Jeremiah Croakson and his two sidekicks Hammy and James Maybe-Knot will be seen in Baslow Players’ ‘The Panto Adventures of Master Toad’.

Zoe Wareham, writer and director said: “I am sure that whether you love or hate Top Gear you will like our irreverent approach. Our Master Toad remains as affable as his not-so-distant relation Mr Toad!”

Expect references from the Wind in the Willows, Star Wars, The Frog Prince and an inclusion down memory lane for anyone who enjoyed 1970s/1980s Saturday early evening family television viewing. . .

The panto runs at Baslow Village Hall from February 23 to 27 with performances at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets £7 adult and £4 child except first night Tuesday, February 24, which is £5/£3 and on Saturday evening all tickets are £12 because they include a hot meal. Tickets available from Baslow Spar, Bakewell Bookshop and box office, tel. 01246 583460.

There will be a bar on Friday and Saturday.
