Weekend tickets go on sale for The Big Session folk festival 2016

A popular folk festival will return to a Derbyshire town for an extended run next year.

Tickets are now on sale for The Big Session 2016 in Buxton following the sell-out success of this year’s event.

Artists lined up for the festival include Oysterband with June Tabor and Sam Carter, Seth Lakeman supported by Lucy Ward, Edward II, Will Pound and Eddy Jay, and the Emily Portman Trio.

Next year’s event runs over three nights and two days from April 29 to May 1.

A beer hall will host a festival of more than 100 real ales and provide the setting for a ceilidh and music sessions led by concert artists.

Fringe activities include a birding trip to the Goyt Valley and a ramble in the hills around Buxton.

Weekend tickets from £86 are on sale and include admission to five concerts, ceilidh and music sessions. Call 01298 72190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.

Tickets for individual events will go on sale from December 1, 2015.
