Historically, flamenco is not a dance normally shown outside Spain. However, once some of the world’s most renowned theatre directors saw the young Essex-born Jay Markwick’s talent, the show found itself alongside Thriller Live in London’s West End, as well as other leading theatres across the country.

Explosion starts by presenting traditional flamenco at its very best as the company play, sing and dance everything from bulerias to farrucas to tangos.

The show, which is strongly influenced by ballet, includes a strong story of love and passion.

Explosion is a unique fusion of various dance styles, featuring male and female leads, five soloists and a company of 15.

The Grand Pavilion is a registered charity which bought the building from Derbyshire Dales District Council in August 2013 and runs music, theatre, markets and private events to raise funds for repairing, maintaining, preserving and restoring the building. The long-term aim when fully restored is to be the largest theatre, live music venue and community space in Derbyshire Dales. At the moment it remains, ‘a Little Bit Scruffy’ but weatherproof, open for business and professionally run.
