Charity success for store

Rohan, in King Street, Bakewell, has been running its ‘Gift Your Gear’ appeal since the beginning of March.

The initiative aims to enable people to benefit from life changing experiences in the great outdoors by providing them with suitable outdoor gear.

Manager Judy Buchanan said: “We’ve been encouraging people to bring any unwanted, but usable, outdoor trousers, jackets and fleeces into the shop. These items will now be donated to local community organisations, youth groups and charities for outdoor projects.”

“The last time we ran ‘Gift Your Gear’ we got a fantastic response with nearly 7,000 garments being donated to our stores nationwide so it’s great to beat that figure by almost 25 per cent this year.

“Our customers have been incredibly generous and some of the items being donated have great stories and histories, or have travelled miles across the globe.”
