Ashford-in-the-Water hamper supplier Sauced Here says demand for Peak District food gifts are at an all-time high.

Owner Luke Osborne said: “We source produce from over 40 Peak District farmers and producers to fill gift hampers with local goodies.

“The demand is making a massive difference in the Peak District because every pound the corporates spend goes into the pocket of our rural economy. I feel incredibly proud to be a part of the process.”

The drastic decline in visitor numbers to the area during the pandemic, and reduced retail activity more widely, has resulted in challenging conditions for local producers.

But Luke says that as more large scale national and global companies share hard-to-come-by cash at regional level, there is reason for confidence in a brighter economic future.

Sauced Here seasonal hampers include items such as Christmas puddings and mince pies from Bloomers, a century-old artisan bakery based in Bakewell owned by Richard Nealon and Esplin Chapman.

Richard said: “We were forced to furlough some of our staff when the second lockdown hit but with orders coming through from Sauced Here, we are now seriously considering bringing them back to cope with demand.
