County sends aid to flood-hit farmers

Derbyshire’s farming community has rallied round in support of flood-affected farmers in the south of the country.

They are supporting the country-wide efforts to pledge and send hay, straw and silage to farmers whose farms, homes and livestock have been and remain flooded out in the Somerset levels.

Farmers across the county have already sent donations of forage and bedding to a collection centre at Sedgemoor livestock market, near Bridgwater, while the NFU’s Bakewell branch has collected almost £3,000 in donations for three farming charities assisting farmers affected by the flooding.
