Derbyshire wealth management duo on shortlist for national awards celebrating women in finance

Two colleagues at a Renishaw financial planning firm have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards celebrating women in the industry.

Future Life Wealth Management’s managing director, Jillian Thomas, and financial planner, Emma Baumback, are in contention for the Investment Week, Women in Investment Awards 2020.

Jillian is shortlisted in the mentor of the year category and Emma will hope to be named rising star of the year for small to medium firms. The winners will be revealed at an online ceremony on December 8.

Jillian, who is a former president of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, said: “This shortlisting shows just what a great team we have.

Returning the compliment, Emma said: “I am honoured to be shortlisted and keeping my fingers crossed for the final judging.

“I may be shortlisted as a rising star, but that is thanks to Jillian who has been a fantastic mentor, not just to me, but all the staff.”

A spokesman for the awards said: “What was particularly commendable this year was the scale of our nominees' achievements at a time they faced huge pressures in their personal and professional lives coping with the fallout from COVID-19.

“Many worked through the most pressurised times of their careers while looking after children at home, caring for vulnerable relatives or friends, and facing their own health concerns.”

Future Life offers a bespoke financial planning service to generators of wealth, typically business owners, executives and professionals, and also to receivers of wealth, such as inheritors, divorcees, widows and retirees.

Since setting up the company in 2009, Jillian has won numerous awards and she is also on the shortlist for entrepreneur of the year in the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards 2020.
