First look at new pub in Derbyshire town – with owners ‘thrilled’ to open doors to customers

A new pub has opened in a Derbyshire town – with its owners ‘thrilled’ to welcome customers earlier this week.

The Pointing Dogs on Dale Road, Matlock opened its doors to customers for the first time on Tuesday, October 18.

The new venue, operated by Derby Brewing, is the latest addition to the town’s offering of pubs and bars, in the centre of the town.

The food menu features contemporary pub food with a modern twist, with new Head Chef Nick Porter heading up the team.

Nick brings with him over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. He has a vast range of experience from AA rosette level food to classic pub grub. Having recently returned to the area last year he has made a name for himself as the Head chef of the Greyhound in Cromford.

The venue, located in the former Herd Steakhouse, has an extensive drinks range with craft beers, premium ales, artisan spirits, cocktails, world wines and ciders.

Mayor of Matlock Cllr Paul Cruise officially opened the bar by pulling the first pint of Derby Brewing’s Business as Usual.

Suzanne Robinson, of The Pointing Dogs said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came down and made the opening night a success. We are very much looking forward to being a part of the local community.”
