High Peak firm seals MP’s praise

A High Peak manufacturing firm, a leading manufacturer of carton board packaging products for blue-chip organisations in the UK, has celebrated breaking new ground.

Glossop Cartons recently held an exclusive open event to mark the high-profile investment in an innovative Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine.

Held at the company’s manufacturing facility in Glossop, the event was attended by customers and local dignitaries, including MP Andrew Bingham and High Peak Mayor Tony Kemp, who were treated to an exclusive first-look at the machine in operation.

Glossop Cartons was the first company in the world to commission the machine, and the first in the UK to install it. The installation enables the family-run firm to offer its customers faster speeds to market, greater flexibility and cost savings on shorter runs.

Mr Bingham, who officially opened the digital studio where the machine is housed, said: “I think it is a great tribute to the management and staff of Glossop Cartons that they are expanding and investing in their site at Padfield.

“The investment isn’t just an investment in a machine, it is an investment in the staff, the business and in the High Peak, for which I am very grateful to them.”

The company has recently enjoyed a plethora of commendations for its innovation, having won the Derbyshire BEST Awards for its Packaging Superheroes marketing campaign, as well as being shortlisted for SME Business of the Year at the PrintWeek Awards and for Business of the Year at the prestigious MEN Business Awards.

Company director Jacky Sidebottom said: “Our customers have played a pivotal role in the success of Glossop Cartons over the years, and we thought this event was the ideal way to say thank you for choosing to work with us, as well as allowing them an intimate first-look at the Highcon Euclid in action.

“We are thrilled that Andrew Bingham MP, the Mayor of the High Peak and Cathy Woodward have all joined us to mark this special occasion and we look forward to continuing our next 30 years as one of the industry’s most innovative companies.”
