Businesses in and around Matlock have teamed up to help boost a local playgroup’s funds by donating prizes to its Easter raffle.

The raffle raised £310 for Matlock Pre-School Playgroup Association which will go towards new outdoor noticeboards at its Woolley Road and Smedley Street (Tin Hut) sites to help communicate with parents and publicise events and activities.

Generous contributions from Aldi, Boyes, Co-op, Holdsworth Chocolates, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, The Original Factory Shop and Wilko allowed the playgroup to create first, second and third prize Easter hampers and two runner-up Easter egg bag prizes to boost ticket sales.

Playgroup manager Katy Taylor said: “We were overwhelmed by the generous donations from these nine local businesses who contributed prizes to our raffle and want to say a huge thank you to them all for helping to make our fund-raising event a success. We really appreciate their support.

She added: “We’d also like to thank everyone who sold and bought tickets raising £310 towards our new noticeboards – particularly important at the moment when Coronavirus restrictions and new playgroup practices mean we’re having to communicate with parents and our wider community in different ways.”
