The winner of the Best Independent Convenience Store will be up against three other stores for the award of Convenience Retailer of the Year.

Edward White opened his new ‘farm shop’ type Spar store in August 2013.

He was nominated for a Countryside Alliance Award, known as the ‘Rural Oscars’, in November.

“I currently stock products from around 10 local suppliers,” Edward said.

“Including locally grown fruit and vegetables.

“Shelf edge signs show how far produce has travelled from farm to store – often only two or three miles.

“I am honoured to have been shortlisted for four Convenience Retail Awards – my staff and I are over the moon.”

Spar White’s of Calver is a third generation family store, representing a retail family which has been supporting the local community for over 90 years.
