College tutors say a range of measures have been put in place to ensure students won’t be disadvantaged by the ‘highly unusual circumstances’ surrounding exams and grades this year.
The college has already pledged that every student can start their college course in September.

David Malone, deputy principal officer at Chesterfield College, said: “I want to send a message to all students due to get their GCSE results this week to let them know that whatever their grades are on Thursday, there is a place for them here at college.
"Their final grades are only ever part of the picture of what they are capable of and it doesn’t define them forever. We always work with students to help them achieve their goals and it will be no different this year.
“It is vital that students can continue their education and move on to the next stage of their studies in September in spite of the events of recent months.
"We will be supporting new and returning students to do that by ensuring they can start college as planned.

“Final grades will be a guide to help us work that out but we’ll use a range of other ways to make sure we get the full picture of each individuals capabilities so we can help them progress in the best way.
"As a college we have a variety of levels and course options to choose from so there is a lot of flexibility to support everyone to reach their full potential.”
College advisors will be available to help GCSE students work out the best option for them on results day.
