Chenille Mohamed intends to broadcast her drastic haircut at 4pm, on May 8, on Facebook Live and raise an ambitious £2,000.

The 13-year-old from Chesterfield shocked her mum when she revealed her plans.

“She didn't want me to do it,” said Chenille. “She expected me to have it in a bob. When she asked how short I wanted it, I said I want to shave to number 8.

“I asked mum if she could shave my hair for me as there are no hairdressers open due to lockdown and she agreed.

Chenille, who lives on Penncroft Drive, Danesmoor, wants to raise money for two good causes: NHS Charities and The Princess Trust Fund – where she will donate her hair.

NHS Charities support staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients across the country in ways “above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide,” such as wellbeing packs, rest and recuperation rooms, electronic tablets for isolated patients to communicate with loved ones.

The funds will resource vital care partnerships and the longer term mental health recovery of staff and families.

The Little Princess Trust "provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.”

Her mum Nadia has set up two Just Giving webpages here: one for NHS Charities and one for The Little Princess Trust.
