No new coronavirus deaths have been announced in Chesterfield today, Monday, May 25, as England recorded its lowest number of daily fatalities since the lockdown began on March 23.

A total of 116 people have died at the Royal after testing positive for COVID-19, as of 5pm on Sunday, May 24.

At hospitals across England, another 59 patients died with the disease, according to the latest figures from NHS England, taking the total death toll to 25,751.

The number of deaths recorded after the weekend is typically lower and NHS England said the Covid Patient Notification System was not working between 4.55am and 3pm yesterday due to connectivity issues.

It said the system was now fully operational and reports of any deaths which could not be entered yesterday would be uploaded.

Across the UK, a total of 36,793 people have now died with coronavirus, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health and Social Care.
