Derbyshire Stone - Memory Lane

This picture was taken to commemorate 25 years of service with a local employer.

The photograph is dated June 1969 and was taken outside John Hadfield House, in Dale Road, Matlock.

At the time the premises were owned by Derbyshire Stone, which located its officers there, however the company was later taken over by industry giant Tarmac.

Eventually, the building fell into the hands of Derbyshire County Council, which uses it as one of its many office site, located in the Matlock area.

The dedicated employee proudly pictured here surrounded by all their colleagues from Derbyshire Stone was being presented with a gold watch in honour of their years of service.
