This picture was saved from an edition of the Matlock Mercury published on February 23, 1979.
It depicts a snow-covered and deserted A6 at Broadwalk, Darley Dale.
The cutting was found in an album belonging to Fred Stevenson, of Matlock Green, by his great niece, Daphne Millward, of Oaker.
Daphne, 64, had inherited several albums from her great uncle after his death more than ten years ago – all containing similar pictures and cuttings that he had collected over the years.
Mr Stevenson was in his 90s when he passed away and had previously lived in both Wensley and Starkholmes before moving to Matlock Green.
Daphne said: “Many years ago we were given these picture albums.
“He collected them as a pass time.
“In this picture I just wondered if anybody knew who the person crossing the street was.”
