The owners of Victoria Cottage just love their garden.
They love it so much in fact they don’t want to leave but it is their desire for the good life and some chickens and a much larger plot which is taking the away from their home of seven years.
Nick and Kath Stapley and their two youngsters have set their sights on moving up so that means their lovely cottage close to Carsington Water is up for grabs.
I avoided saying ‘lovely little cottage’ there as surprisingly it is anything but.
This house is a definite Tardis. The total opposite to the former Chapel I featured last week which I had expected to be cavernous only to discover it was quite cosy.
From the outside picture of Victoria Cottage on the estate agent’s details you would justifiably expect it to be quite tiny.
Okay, it may only have two rooms downstairs but they are really good-sized rooms.
The living room is vast enough to not only have space for a dining table but also a piano, and in the farmhouse style kitchen there is room for another eating area and an original Rayburn fire, which you can see in the picture below right.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom and so it makes a very comfortable family home for a couple with two children, or a couple looking to down size and have no DIY to face. The Stapleys have already done anything which needed doing.
Nick and Kath admitted that if they could transfer the house into the middle of a bigger garden they would be made up.
For the rest of us, not longing for chickens and acres of space to grow vegetables, the garden at Victoria Cottage is actually one of the assets of the property.
The couple have laid it out beautifully to include a greenhouse and raised beds for vegetables and a decking area. It is not overlooked and has gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside.
