New York soul outfit Truth & Soul, best known for working with Adele, help to put a new spin on old favourites such as Black Eyed Boy and I Don’t Want A Lover. Vocalist Sharleen Spiteri is in fine voice as ever and the seven-strong band have clearly enjoyed reinterpreting some of their best-known material. The sparkling Summer Son and The Conversation underline the reason for Texas’ enduring appeal, namely fine musicianship and the knack of writing top-quality songs.
