This picture was taken in 1947 at the first Matlock carnival to take place since the Second World War.
The theme of the special event was ‘Britain and her allies’ and the young people shown in the photograph are dressed up as people from different nations - with the three boys in the front dressed as a soldier, a sailor and a member of the air force.
Vera Wragg, of Matlock, who owns the picture, said: “Years ago the carnival was a big event.
“It used to go up the Dimple, along Smedley Street, and down Lime Tree Road to Matlock Green.
“There were big drays which had been decorated up and the people used to get dressed up as well.”
