We’ve got a wheel puzzle for you in this week’s Memory Lane – do you recognise this group of cyclists getting ready for a gruelling trek?
The photo has come from the Matlock Mercury’s vast archive of pictures, and we want to know if you can help shed light on what the cyclists are up to.
The back of the picture names the foursome as, from left to right, Graham Clay, Peter Walker, Duncan Vallance and Trevor McCabe.
The caption on the back reads: “Checking tyre pressure before 156 mile bike ride.” But where was the bike ride from and to? The men are all wearing Warmafoam t-shirts. Could this be their sponsor, or the firm they worked for, or something else?
Also, Peter Walker is named as the adjudicator. Could this have been some kind of record attempt? And what is the connection to Barmote Croft?
Anyone with information on the picture should contact the newsdesk.
