Dinosaurs, circus performers and Sooty to entertain families

From dinosaurs, to the circus, to stage adaptations of TV's Sooty and Horrible Histories, there are lots of events coming up in Buxton for families.

Dinosaur Zoo (August 23 and 24) features cute baby dinos and teeth gnashing giants in an hilarious and imaginative live show that is winning critical acclaim across the UK.

If you thought Pokémon Go was the only interactive game phenomenon of the moment, think again. WiFi Wars (September 3, Pavilion Arts Centre) is a live comedy game show where you can play along in the theatre against other gamers in the area. All you need do is log in with your smartphone or tablet and complete a range of games and quizzes to win prizes.

For a bit of magic in your life the 80th British Ring Annual Magic Convention returns to Buxton (September 10). Whilst the brotherhood exchanges secrets behind closed doors, two dazzling shows are available to audience. On Saturday morning Sooty and Friends will perform a magic show. In the evening join International Stars of Magic and Variety for a show filled with illusion, vaudeville and magic lasers.

The Chinese State Circus will be in town (September 17) with 30 world class acrobats, aerial artistes, jugglers and the Shaolin Warriors.

For those who like history, TV’s Horrible Histories will be brought to stage in a fun, comical and educational new show, Barmy Britain (September 19 to 21). This show is the closest children will get to meeting notorious characters from history such as Henry VIII, Guy Fawkes, dastardly Dick Turpin and Queen Victoria.
