Do you recognise anyof these green-fingered pals?
This photograph was sent into the Mercury by reader Michael Oldfield of Belper.
It shows the members of the gardening club at Ernest Bailey Grammar School in 1947.
Michael Oldfield said: “The club was under the direction of biology master ‘Farmer’ George.
“We used to grow buds and greens, things like that, nothing exotic. We’d get our hands dirty and hope for the best.
“I myself still enjoy gardening, probably more now than I did then.
“It was a good club and I have many happy memories of it.
“I’ve not seen any of the people on the photograph since I left school, I thought it might be interesting for people to see.”
