The Flagg Challenge 50-mile ride sets off from the hospice from 9am, on Sunday, July 26, with breathtaking views including Chatsworth House and climbs through Sheldon, Birchover and Stanton-in-the-Peak.

And following the previous support of volunteers and marshals, event organisers are once again appealing for support to help cyclists along the way to completing the route and raising as much money as possible for the charity.

Derbyshire Times reporter and fundraising cyclist Jon Cooper said: “We hope to have as many foot marshals as possible armed with bottles of water for riders at crucial points on the route as well as marshal riders who will never be too far away should anyone need help.

“JE James will be on hand at the start to help if there are any last minute mechanical snags and they will be armed with snacks and drinks at the half-way point at Monyash. Foot and rider marshals help to make this ride possible and successful.”

The 50 mile route includes Baslow, Ashford-in-the-Water, Flagg, Monyash, and Rowsley before returning to Ashgate Hospice. And an alternate 25-mile ride will also set off from the hospice and goes out towards Ashford-in-the-Water and back.

Those keen to help can enter the event via www.ashgatehospicecare.org.uk/events/flaggchallenge/ or via events at www.ashgatehospicecare.org.uk.
