A lucky black Ladrador is seen here licking the face of one of its rescuers after being retrieved from the narrow ledge of a quarry.
Rescue teams were on red alert upon hearing that Rex had accidentally fallen 15 feet onto the ledge at Parish Quarry, on Via Gellia.
The poor animal had been left quaking after precariously positioning itself 85 feet above ground.
In this photograph the relieved pooch gives fireman John Walker a kiss to say ‘thank you’, while his colleagues Trevor Boulton and John Ireland carefully hold onto him.
The picture was taken in the 1970s by the Matlock Mercury’s renowned photographerRon Duggins.
