Riding high in the Alps for charity

A north Derbyshire businessman, whose grandson was born with a serious skin condition, is cycling the Tour de France’s toughest Alps for a charity close to his heart.
Eckington advertising agency owner, Geoff Noake, faces an uphill challenge in June when he attempts to cycle over some of the most famous Alpine cols of the Tour de France to celebrate his 60th birthday and to raise money for charity.Eckington advertising agency owner, Geoff Noake, faces an uphill challenge in June when he attempts to cycle over some of the most famous Alpine cols of the Tour de France to celebrate his 60th birthday and to raise money for charity.

Geoff Noake, of Eckington-based AdPlace Marketing, will reach new heights in June when he takes on nearly 500km of iconic mountain climbs featured in the Tour over six days.

The challenge marks his 60th birthday and he hopes to raise about £500 for children’s skin complaint charity Caring Matters Now.

He will start in Cuneo, Italy, before climbing the Col de la Lombarde, Col du Galibier and will finish on Alpe d’Huez.

Geoff said: “Riding Alpe d’Huez is like someone who loves football playing at Wembley.”

Geoff’s grandson Max, aged two, was born with a Congenital Melanocytic Naevus on his head. Those wishing to donate can visit www.justgiving.co.uk/Geoff-Noake and can find out more about CMN at www.caringmattersnow.co.uk.
