With mysterious masked choreography, inventive lighting, musical synchronisation and post-apocalyptic imagery, these drummers have to be seen to be believed.

It’s not uncommon to find yourself belly laughing as the events become even more frantic in a spellbinding display of pure energy and sheer athleticism.

A Mugenkyo concert has the reputation of offering a red hot rhythm-fuelled sensory experience, with the Taiko drum beats resonating the body from the head to toes.

A must for rhythm junkies of all ages, in 2015 the group celebrated 21 years at the forefront of this exciting and visual art-form in Europe.

Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers play at Buxton Opera House on Saturday, May 14, at 7.30pm.

Their special guests are Japan-based Wadaiko Tokara who thunder into the UK with a reputation of speed, precision and mesmerising martial power, with leader Art Lee winning prestigious awards for his electrifying Odaiko (big drum) performance.

Tickets are priced from £18.50 to £22.50. To book, call 01298 72190 or www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
