He’s also written a best-selling book and won many new fans on Celebrity Big Brother.

Now Martin is hitting the road as he embarks on an Audience With tour. Here he tells us what to expect from his show which is coming to Buxton next month:

Q. How did the idea for this Audience With tour come about?

A. I was on the road with Spandau Ballet which is a huge machine where the show plays to some of the biggest venues in the world and it just hit me that to some of the audience I was a speck of dust on the stage… No more than a thumb size on the giant video screens! It was then I thought how cool it would be to scale it right back and say hi to all those people who supported us and answer their questions about the band, my career and my life...so everyone can really get to know the real me!

Q. What can we expect from the show?

A. The evening will be a chance to listen to stories about the band, my career and my life with all its ups and downs from the band to
EastEnders to The Krays!

Q. You’ve of course been on tour many times, what will be different about this time?

A. I’m used to touring. It has become part of my life... Thank god for face time. (He laughs).

Q. Do you have any special routines you go through before going on stage?

A. I don’t have routines. I try to keep each evening fresh so it feels like the first time!

Q. Any special items you take on tour or have in your dressing room?A. This isn’t Spandau, there’s no rider. But as long as there’s water because I get the feeling I might get a dry throat after answering all your questions...And by the way…the funnier the better!
