A TEACHING assistant is getting her running shoes on to raise money for charity.
Michaela Mein, who works at Darley Dale Primary School, is preparing to run in the London Marathon this year to raise money for Leukaemia CARE.
The plucky 23-year-old has already previously run the marathon twice– raising in excess of £3,000 for the charity.
She is now hoping to generate another £2,000.
Michaela, of Derby, said: “When I was 16 one of my family members died from leukaemia.
“It made me aware of the disease.”
She is currently about half way to her funding target.
Now that Michaela has done the marathon more than once she feels she knows what to expect from it.
“The atmosphere helps a lot,” she said.
Michaela will be accompanied by her dad, William, when she does the 26 mile slog.
