90-year-old woman suffers injuries to her face in Ilkeston daylight robbery

A 90-year-old woman has been robbed in Ilkeston.

At about 9.20am on Wednesday, the woman was walking along Trueman Street when someone approached her from behind and snatched her handbag, causing her to fall to the floor.

The robber ran off with the bag, which contained a small amount of cash.

The victim suffered facial injuries as a result of the fall and was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital for treatment.

She cannot be sure of the gender of the robber but said they were slim and wore dark clothing.

A 31-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of robbery has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
