A love for dogs in Bakewell

On behalf of the Brailsford-based dog rescue charity Just For Dogs, I wish to thank the people of Bakewell and the surrounding district very sincerely for their great generosity when we held a street collection in their town on Saturday, October 1. Bakewell’s shoppers made it abundantly clear that they very definitely love dogs, which is quite wonderful and very reassuring.

In total, a staggering £208.57 was kindly donated to our canine welfare work, which is almost unbelievable on a rainy day in a town of only 4,000 odd inhabitants. As well as people’s generosity, the warm, hospitable reception we received from Bakewell’s residents was similarly unanticipated, with cups of hot tea being brought out to us from nearby shops.

No expenses were deducted to cover the cost of staging the event, so every penny of the money so magnificently donated will be spent on the daily needs of the abandoned and unwanted dogs in our care.

Anyone interested in adopting one of our beautiful rescue dogs or becoming a supporter should visit www.justfordogs.org or call (01335) 361363 for further details.
