AN APPEAL has been launched to find a town-proud resident in Belper who is willing to adopt a seat.
Cllr John Nelson, who lobbied for the installation of the seat at the bottom of New Road, wants someone to look after it as part of the Belper in Bloom scheme.
The seat, provided by Amber Valley Borough Council, was installed on the site of the former Silkolene oil refinery which was demolished in 2000.
Cllr John Nelson said: “After Silkolene closed there was a public toilet there. That disappeared some years back. Now it’s a proper tasteful seat.
“I have been lobbying to get it replaced along with councillors Jim Anderson and Peter Arnold.”
If anyone is interested in adopting the seat as part of Belper in Bloom scheme should contact Belper Town Council’s clerk Roz Bullimore on 01773 822116.
