Air views on gritting plans

Dales residents are being asked for their views about proposed changes to the way Derbyshire County Council grits its roads in winter.

Last year the county council spent £4.5 million on gritting and clearing snow from roads.

This year it wants to split its gritting route into two categories – primary and secondary – to make gritting easier to manage, help prevent overspending and clear snow from more roads.

It also wants to add a third category – tertiary – to clear snow from some roads which are not currently on the gritting network.

And you can have your say on the plans.

Residents are being asked to comment on the plans to introduce a system of primary, secondary and tertiary routes by filling in a questionnaire available online at or from libraries from next week.
