Councillor Steve Freeborn said he was disappointed by the number of entries last year but had high expectations this time.
“We have had such good weather for growing that there is no excuse for people not to participate. I hope that people are going to really go for it this year and produce some blooming results,” he said.
The competition is open to all residents in Ripley and the surrounding areas, including Ambergate, Bullbridge, Hammersmith, Heage, Lower Hartshay, Marehay, Nether Heage, Ridgeway, Sawmills, Street Lane, Hartshay and Waingroves.
