Ambulance learners take home top accolades

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) has celebrated the outstanding achievements of staff at its annual rewards and recognition award ceremony.

Staff, who were celebrated for going above and beyond the call of duty to support patients, colleagues and the local community, were presented with trophies and certificates at the event.

The Health Education East Midlands Love Our Learners programme was launched in February 2014 and is aimed at communicating and engaging with healthcare students and trainees.

The Love Our Learners annual learner award recognises those students that go the extra mile in their commitment to their studies and help their colleagues on the learning journey.

Claire Wheeler, from Matlock, scooped a highly commended accolade for her efforts.

On her technician course, Claire went above and beyond what was expected in the environment she was learning in.
She supported her colleagues through personal troubles and through their learning adventure. She was in class early every day without fail – remaining behind at the end of the day to understand areas that may not have been fully grasped.
