The activities at the ninth annual festival, which 15,000 people attended last year, vary from rare openings of historic buildings, to guided walks and family events.

Derbyshire County Council Deputy cabinet member for health and communities, Councillor Ellie Wilcox, attended one of the events taking a behind the scenes tour of Belper Library.

She said: “The Discovery Days Festival is a fantastic way of showing off Derbyshire’s fascinating history and promoting our beautiful and diverse county as a place to visit to boost our already successful tourism industry.”
