YOulgrave is hostng its annual well dressing festival next week.
The festival on Saturday, June 23, will feature a procession and service of blessing at 2.30pm.
The village’s five main boards will be joined by one at All Saint’s Primary School as well as a well dressing in the church yard and other children’s well dressings displayed on the steps of the fountain in the centre of the village.
Fred Baker, chairman of Youlgrave Well Dressers, said: “Water is so important to the residents of Youlgrave whether it be in the rivers and streams, falling on our fields and gardens or that which flows from our very own water company.
“It is therefore no wonder then that Youlgrave has water at the heart of one of its main festivals.
“Youlgrave well dressings are some of the oldest and the best in the country, the village is unique in having it’s own independent water supply which it has been giving thanks for since 1869.”
This years’ beneficiaries of funds raised during well dressing week are the Rainbows unit, Youlgrave Carnival Committee and The Church Roof Appeal.
Car and coach parking will be available during the weekend.
