Apprentice leisure day

a DALES version of hit television show The Apprentice took place during National Apprenticeship Week.

Six would-be leisure apprentices battled it out in a series of tests at Derbyshire Dale District Council’s Matlock Lido.

The six (pictured), Luke Manlove, Liam Ward, Benjamin Justin, Dexter Clay, Jonathan Matthews and Joe Harrison, took part in a day of gruelling challenges, tests and interviews for two apprentice places.

Working in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, the council scheme helps young people learn vital work-based skills and gain a recognised qualifications.

The district council’s community and environment committee chairman, Janet Goodison said: “We are delighted our apprentices are already benefiting enormously from the district council’s investment in its staff and playing a part in the excellent customer service at our leisure centres. Active, healthy communities are a priority for people in the Dales.”
