Arrests after Peak deaths

On Sunday, December 23, the body of Dale Yates was found in a flat on Eagle Parade in Buxton. His death is not being treated as suspicious. Five people were arrested on suspicion of drug offences after his death. They have been released on police bail.

On Saturday, December 22, the body of Charlotte Woodiwiss was found at a flat in Chapel. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death but two people were arrested on suspicion of drug offences. They have since been released on police bail.

A further three men and a woman from the Chapel area were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of supplying class A drugs.

The deaths prompted police to issue a warning about drug misuse.

Inspector Martin Coey said: “While there is nothing to link these two deaths we believe that both people may have taken drugs before they died.

“Anyone who takes drugs needs to be aware that there is no guarantee that the drug is what they think it is. Illegal drugs and so-called legal highs can have different strengths and have different components. All drugs can be dangerous and people who use them should not mix them with alcohol.”

Hundreds of people have paid tribute to Dale and Charlotte on the social networking site Facebook.

Jackie Susan Gibbs posted: “I feel privileged to have known Charlotte over the past three years and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her at college. Rest in peace, you will be sadly missed but forever in our thoughts as you were as beautiful inside as you were out.”

And Louise Hart said: “RIP to a lovely girl who was always smiling and bubbly and nice to everyone. You will be sadly missed angel.”

Emily Mugridge added: “We will all miss you terribly. I am so glad I had the chance to know you and work alongside you, you will never be forgotten.”

Paying tribute to Dale, Lesley Dingle said: “Another good one taken too soon. The world is cruel God bless you Dale!!! Gonna miss your cheeky little face sleep tight little man.”

And Jon Pickering said: “RIP. Top lad and always put a smile on your face. Never forgotten and always loved!”
