Artist shows off Peak District in TV show

A Dales artist will help share the beauty of the Peak District landscape with a national audience as part of a new television series.

Geoff Kersey, of Darley Dale, will feature on a new Sky series called Fraser and Friends – an eight–part series on the Painting and Drawing Channel in which artist Fraser Scarfe meets up with professional artists to paint outdoor scenes.

Geoff features in episode three of the series, airing on October 20, in which he teaches the presenter about the rugged landscape of the national park in an episode mostly filmed in Cromford and Baslow.

“We did the actual painting at Baslow Edge,” Geoff said.

“It’s a steep escarpment of rocks. It’s quite high with commanding views. It was filmed in August and it was really windy but the views were fantastic.”

He said the programme is a mixture of arts and travel, so they also went to Cromford Canal, where he often likes to paint.

Geoff, who is originally from Sheffield, but has lived in Darley Dale for 22 years, is no stranger to the Painting and Drawing Channel, having appeared on several instructive programmes before.

He has also produced several books and has one coming out next month called ‘Painting Successful Watercolours from Photographs’, published by Search Press.

Fraser and Friends is available to watch online at www.thepaintinganddrawingchannel.co.uk as well as Sky Channel 192 and Freesat Channel 402, on Mondays at 5pm.
