Assault at town’s hotel

Police believe several people may have witnessed an alleged assault at a Bakewell hotel and are appealing for them to come forward.

At around 11.40pm on Saturday, August 13, police were called to the Rutland Arms following reports of the assault.

A 41-year-old man was being treated at the scene by paramedics. He had a black eye, broken ankle and a cut to this head. He was taken to hospital in Chesterfield.

A 32-year-old Bakewell man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police say there was a party going on at the venue that evening and there could be witnesses to the incident who have yet to come forward.
