Award was a real tonic

I would just like to thank who ever nominated me for the Unsung Hero category in the Matlock Mercury Awards.

Being involved with any sort of club can be really hard work, and it is sometimes a real battle to keep things going when there is so much to do. It is being nominated for such awards which makes you realise how much your work is appreciated.

The evening was a really enjoyable one, and it was touching to hear the tributes paid to everyone who was nominated. Thankyou to all at the Matlock Mercury for putting on a really good event.

On a personal note, I would just like to say that there are many unsung heroes in every club or organisation without who’s help such clubs would not exist.

I would like to thank all players and parents of Matlock Town U19s, also Stewart Baker, David Reynolds, Alan smith and Chris and Ruth Kay for their efforts off the pitch. Dave Smith of Arlington Buildings Projects for his kind purchase of end of season trophies, and Longcliffe Quarries for kit sponsorship.

Mick Buheller, my co-manager, Bev Thompson our physio, and last but not least, our footballing widow wives, Gaynor Buheller and Liz Baker who put up with so much.

Thank you to all and keep up the good work.

Andy Baker
