Everyone in Matlock wants our town to be a vibrant shopping centre.
We all want it to have plenty on offer to attract visitors and serve the local residents.
Our new traders’ forum the Town Team and some of our stalwart councillors are doing their best to make this happen and they need our support to succeed.
A new outdoor market at Park Head and across the bridge would be fantastic and would not need a lot of work to achieve.
Many towns in Britain close off streets for their market each week and it can’t be that difficult to organise.
And more shops open on a Sunday is a no-brainer.
Anyone wanting to make a success of their business now must have to operate on a day when visitors are out and wanting to shop.
With our wonderful park, the river and Peak Rail to attract people into Matlock on a Sunday, opening up the shops is a must.
If you back what the Town Team and our councillors are asking for then let us know and we will use your comments to support their efforts to improve Matlock.
